The short answer

BloxBot is a free, open-source desktop app: you bring the AI, by API key or with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan, and that provider bills you. RoCode includes the AI: free credits every day with no key and no card, and paid plans for stronger models.

Checked 15 October 2026.

About this comparison

BloxBot here means the desktop app at bloxbot.ai, made by Paralov AS of Kristiansand, Norway, with its source code on GitHub. Its footer says it is not affiliated with Roblox Corporation. RoCode is a separate, independent product, also not made by Roblox.

BloxBot facts come from its homepage, three of its guides, its Terms and privacy policy, and its GitHub README and latest release, all read on 15 October 2026. We did not install BloxBot, so how it connects, its playtest and its terrain work are as its own pages describe them. RoCode wrote this page, so we are a competitor: every BloxBot fact below comes from the pages listed under Sources. If something has changed, tell us in the Discord (opens in a new tab) and we will correct it.

Feature RoCode BloxBot
What you install and where it runs A free plugin from the Roblox Creator Store, in Roblox Studio on Windows or Mac. You type in a web chat at rocode.app in a desktop browser; phones aren’t supported. The BloxBot desktop app. Its latest release, v0.13.7 of 30 September 2026, has installers for macOS, Windows and Debian or Ubuntu Linux. Roblox Studio has to be open with a place loaded.
How Studio connects Type the 8-character code from the RoCode panel into the chat, then confirm the account in Studio. The code works once and expires after 15 minutes; after that the plugin reconnects on its own. RoCode does not use Studio’s MCP server. Through the MCP server built into Studio: in Studio’s Assistant settings, open MCP Servers and turn on Studio as MCP server. No Studio plugin. We did not install BloxBot, so we did not see this step ourselves.
Account A free RoCode account: sign in with an email code, Google, Discord or Roblox. RoCode has no passwords of its own. No BloxBot account: its privacy policy says the app does not ask for your name or email. You need an account with an AI provider instead, unless you run a local model, which its homepage lists.
Age 13 or older; under 18 you need a parent or guardian’s permission. 16 or older, by its Terms; under 18 with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
What it builds Scripts, parts and UI, one feature at a time, in the place you have open. It does not sculpt or paint terrain, generate meshes or animations, or insert models from the Toolbox or Creator Store. By its homepage: parts, scripts, terrain, UI and entire game systems, through Studio’s MCP tools.
Checking its work Compile-checks its scripts with Check Script. With plugin 3.9 or newer, in Build mode, it can press Play for a test of up to 30 seconds and read server and client errors and warnings. The test does not move a character or click buttons. Its homepage says it writes a test plan first (the goal, the steps, what to watch for and what counts as passing), then runs it in Studio. We have not seen what that test does.
Models DeepSeek V4 Flash and GPT-OSS 120B on every plan. GLM 5.3 Flash and Claude Sonnet 5.5 from Pro, Claude Opus 5.5 from Studio, GPT-6 Astra from Ultra. Or your own OpenRouter key on any paid plan. Models from the provider you connect: Anthropic, Google, OpenAI or OpenRouter by API key, or OpenAI by signing in with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan. Its homepage also lists a local model.
Who pays for the AI It is included. Starter gives free credits every day; paid plans get monthly credits. With your own OpenRouter key on a paid plan, OpenRouter bills you and no RoCode credits are used. You do. Its Terms say you are responsible for any charges your AI provider bills you. With a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan, its guide says heavy sessions use up the plan’s allowance and you hit a rate limit rather than a bill.
How use is charged By model and run length: stronger models and longer runs use more credits. One run pauses after a set number of credits and asks before it goes on. When a run fails because of a problem on RoCode’s side, its credits go back automatically. By your AI provider, at its own prices. A guide on BloxBot’s site says it connects directly to your provider with no markup. BloxBot sells no AI itself, so what you pay depends on your provider and model.
Price Starter is free. Pro $9.99 a month, Studio $19.99, Ultra $29.99, in US dollars before tax. Billed yearly, 30% less. The app is free: its homepage says “Free forever” and “No credit card”. BloxBot has no paid plan.
Refunds In full within 14 days of any payment, for any reason, including renewals and credit packs. BloxBot takes no payment. What your AI provider charges follows that provider’s own terms.
Where your chats live On RoCode’s side, so you can pick up later, until you delete them. What RoCode reads goes through OpenRouter to the provider hosting the model. Your own OpenRouter key is encrypted before it is stored. On your computer, with your settings and keys, and prompts go straight to your AI provider. By default the app also shares AI usage data with Paralov (prompts, replies and tool results that can include your scripts), which you can turn off; conversation content is deleted after 30 days. Basic app analytics are always on.
Taking a change back Each batch of changes is an undo point (Ctrl+Z) while Studio is open. With plugin 3.8.5 or newer, deletes go to a RoCodeTrash folder in ServerStorage that keeps the deletes of the 30 most recent runs. Its Terms say AI can be wrong, and ask you to review changes before you publish and keep backups of work you care about. We did not check how its changes undo in Studio.

Setup

How each one connects

Three steps each. RoCode pairs a plugin with a web chat. BloxBot uses Studio’s own MCP server.

RoCode

  1. Get the plugin

Free, from the Creator Store (opens in a new tab).

  2. Copy the code in Studio

The RoCode panel shows a one-time 8-character code.

  3. Paste it in the chat

Press Connect, then confirm the account in Studio.

More about how each one connects
RoCode
You type in the web chat at rocode.app; the RoCode plugin from the Creator Store works in the place you have open in Roblox Studio, with a loop for compile check, playtest and undo. Nothing to install on the PC beyond the plugin, and no MCP server to turn on. Studio connects to the chat with a one-time 8-character code, then reconnects on its own. RoCode never uploads your place file.
RoCode pairing
Get the plugin, copy the code from the RoCode panel in Studio, then paste it in the chat and press Connect. Studio then asks you to confirm the account; the walkthrough clip leaves that step out. The code works once and expires after 15 minutes; after that the plugin reconnects on its own.
BloxBot
You install the desktop app, open Studio with a place loaded, and turn on Studio as MCP server in Studio’s Assistant settings (the three-dot menu, then MCP Servers). Then you connect an AI provider in BloxBot’s Settings, under Providers. Its README says the app runs OpenCode, the AI engine that manages model connections, sessions and tool use, which it downloads from GitHub on first launch, and the AI uses Studio’s MCP tools to inspect and change your open place. We did not install BloxBot, so we did not see these steps.
Want MCP without BloxBot?
Studio’s MCP server also works with other AI clients. Our Studio MCP setup guide follows Roblox’s own steps.

  • RoCode

    Has a free plan

    AI included, monthly plans

    $9.99a month for Pro

    • Starter: free credits every day, no card
    • Studio $19.99, Ultra $29.99
    • Billed yearly, 30% less
  • BloxBot

    No paid plan

    Open source, MIT licence

    $0for the app

    • The AI is billed by your provider
    • Or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan’s allowance
    • No AI sold by BloxBot

Your AI provider’s bill depends on the model and how much you use it, so the two do not compare one to one.

The detail behind the prices

RoCode: free every day, or $9.99 a month for Pro

  • Free Starter plan: free credits every day on DeepSeek V4 Flash or GPT-OSS 120B, refilled at 00:00 UTC, no card. That is enough for a few small tasks a day.
  • Pro $9.99 a month, Studio $19.99, Ultra $29.99, in US dollars before tax, each with monthly credits. Billed yearly, each plan costs 30% less with the same credits.
  • A credit measures what a run costs to compute. Stronger models and longer tasks use more.
  • Plan credits do not carry over. Credit packs from 50 credits for $4.99 up to 1,200 credits for $99.99 are for paid plans and never expire.
  • Your own OpenRouter key and a model you choose on any paid plan, billed by OpenRouter, not by RoCode.
  • Money back in full within 14 days of any payment, for any reason. Paddle takes the payment as merchant of record.

BloxBot: a free app, and your AI provider bills you

  • The app is free and open source under the MIT licence. Its homepage says “Free forever” and “No credit card”, and its Terms say “BloxBot is free.”
  • BloxBot has no paid plan, and its ChatGPT guide says it never brokers model access. Its Terms say you are responsible for any charges your AI provider bills you.
  • With an API key you pay the provider for what you use. A guide on its site says BloxBot connects directly to your provider with no markup.
  • With a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan you pay nothing extra, but heavy sessions use up the plan’s allowance and you hit a rate limit rather than a bill. Its guide says that sign-in is for one person’s own use, not for teams or reselling.
  • BloxBot sells no AI itself, so what a session costs depends on your provider and model.

BloxBot rows as of 15 October 2026. RoCode’s credits and an AI provider’s bill are different units, so they do not compare one to one.

Verdict

Which should you pick?

Each one wins somewhere. Pick on what you need.

Pick BloxBot if you want

  • A free, open-source app: MIT licence, code on GitHub.
  • Your own AI account, by API key or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan.
  • No Studio plugin: it uses Studio’s own MCP server.
  • Terrain, which its homepage lists among what it builds.

Pick RoCode if you want

  • No AI key to set up: free credits every day, no card.
  • One bill in credits, with models up to Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra.
  • A start at 13, with a parent or guardian’s permission under 18.
  • No desktop app: a web chat and one Studio plugin.
Where each one is stronger, in full

Where BloxBot is stronger

  • The app costs nothing and is open source. Its code is on GitHub under the MIT licence (93 stars and 20 forks on 15 October 2026), so you can read it, change it or fork it. RoCode is a paid service with a free plan.
  • Any model your provider offers, and a local model by its homepage. You can sign in with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan you already pay for instead of buying credits, and a guide on its site says it adds no markup to your provider’s prices. RoCode offers its own list of models, or your own OpenRouter key on paid plans only.
  • No Studio plugin to install: it uses the MCP server built into Studio. RoCode needs its plugin from the Creator Store.
  • Terrain, by its homepage. RoCode does not sculpt or paint terrain.
  • Your chats, settings and keys stay on your computer, and prompts go straight to your provider. RoCode stores chats on its side until you delete them.
  • Linux builds of the app (.deb), as well as macOS and Windows, though Roblox Studio itself runs on Windows or Mac. RoCode’s chat runs in a desktop browser, with Studio on Windows or Mac.

Where RoCode is stronger

  • No AI account or key to set up. Starter gives free credits every day on DeepSeek V4 Flash or GPT-OSS 120B, refilled at 00:00 UTC, with no card. BloxBot is free, but it includes no AI: you need an API key with credits, a provider sign-in or a local model you run yourself.
  • One bill for the AI. Paid plans include monthly credits for named models, from DeepSeek V4 Flash up to Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra, and when a run fails because of a problem on RoCode’s side, its credits go back automatically. With BloxBot you keep your own provider account and pay its charges.
  • Open from age 13, with a parent or guardian’s permission under 18. BloxBot’s Terms ask for 16 or older.
The full verdict

Pick BloxBot if you already pay for an AI provider or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan, want an app whose code you can read and change, or want terrain work, which its homepage lists. The app is free, your AI provider bills you, and its Terms ask users to be 16 or older.

Pick RoCode if you want to start with no AI key: free credits every day with no card, and paid plans with named models from DeepSeek V4 Flash up to Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra, or your own OpenRouter key. It works one feature at a time in the place you have open: scripts, parts and UI. It can compile-check its scripts inside Studio, and with plugin 3.9 or newer, in Build mode, it can press Play for a test of up to 30 seconds, read the errors and warnings, and then stop the test. Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) steps back through its changes one batch at a time while Studio is open. See the plans and prices and the docs; you can get your money back within 14 days of any payment.

FAQ

Questions

Is BloxBot free?

The app is. On 15 October 2026 BloxBot was a free, open-source desktop app under the MIT licence, made by Paralov AS in Norway, with no paid plan of its own. The AI is not included: you pay the AI provider you connect, sign in with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan you already pay for and use its allowance, or run a local model yourself. RoCode needs no AI key: its Starter plan gives free credits every day with no card, and paid plans start at $9.99 a month.

Does BloxBot need a Roblox Studio plugin?

No. BloxBot connects your AI to the MCP server built into Roblox Studio. You install the desktop app, then in Studio open the Assistant settings, go to MCP Servers and turn on Studio as MCP server. RoCode works the other way: a free plugin from the Roblox Creator Store, paired once with the web chat by a one-time 8-character code. RoCode does not use Studio’s MCP server.

Is RoCode an alternative to BloxBot?

Yes, if you want an AI agent for the Roblox Studio place you have open without setting up an AI provider. Both change the place you have open in Studio. RoCode includes the AI: free credits every day on DeepSeek V4 Flash or GPT-OSS 120B, and Claude and GPT models on paid plans. BloxBot fits better if you already pay for an AI provider or a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan, or want an app whose code you can read and change.

Which AI models can BloxBot use?

Models from the provider you connect. Its setup guide lists Anthropic, Google, OpenAI and OpenRouter by API key, and OpenAI also by signing in with a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan. Its homepage adds a local model and says you can switch models mid-project. RoCode offers its own list: DeepSeek V4 Flash and GPT-OSS 120B on every plan, GLM 5.3 Flash and Claude Sonnet 5.5 from Pro, Claude Opus 5.5 from Studio and GPT-6 Astra from Ultra, or your own OpenRouter key on any paid plan.

Where does BloxBot keep my chats and keys?

On your computer. Its privacy policy, last updated 24 September 2026, says your projects, chat history, settings and API keys or logins stay on your computer, and prompts go straight to the AI provider you connected. By default the app also shares AI usage data with Paralov, including prompts, replies and tool results that can contain scripts from your place. You can turn that off in its Settings, under Privacy, and conversation content is deleted after 30 days. RoCode stores your chats on its side so you can pick up later, until you delete them, and what it reads goes through OpenRouter to the provider hosting the model.

How old do you need to be?

BloxBot’s Terms, last updated 24 September 2026, say you must be at least 16, and under 18 you use it with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. RoCode is open from 13; under 18 you need a parent or guardian’s permission.
