Roblox stretches every thumbnail to 16:9, so faces and text get wide.

Questions
What size is a Roblox thumbnail?
1920 × 1080 pixels, in a 16:9 shape. As of 18 October 2026, Roblox’s docs say a thumbnail image should be 16:9 and ideally 1920 × 1080, in .jpg, .gif, .png, .tga or .bmp format, and that a thumbnail of any other shape is stretched to 16:9.
What size is a Roblox game icon?
Square and at least 512 × 512 pixels. Roblox’s docs suggest a 512 × 512 template and say icons also show at smaller sizes such as 150 × 150, so check that the details still read when the icon is small. The docs list no file types or file size for icons.
Can a Roblox thumbnail be square?
You can upload one, but Roblox’s docs say displayed thumbnails are stretched to 16:9 whatever shape you upload. A square picture belongs in the game icon; crop thumbnails to 16:9 before you upload them.
How big can a Roblox thumbnail file be?
Keep it under 3 MB. Roblox gives that limit in its steps for Home page thumbnails, together with 1920 × 1080 as the largest size, and lists no other file size for thumbnails. Roblox does not say whether 3 MB means 3,000,000 bytes, so this checker warns from 3,000,000 bytes.
How many thumbnails can a Roblox game have?
Up to 10 images or videos on each game’s detail page. For the Home page, Roblox’s thumbnail personalization uses 2 to 5 active thumbnails and starts once you turn on 2 or more. Images are free to upload.
What size is a Roblox game pass icon?
No larger than 512 × 512 pixels, in .jpg, .png or .bmp format. Roblox shows pass icons as a circle, so keep important details inside it. Developer product icons follow the same rule, and badge icons use a 512 × 512 template that Roblox trims to a circle.
Can a Roblox game have a video thumbnail?
Yes. Roblox’s docs give a monthly quota of 3 video uploads, rejected videos included, and say Xbox, PlayStation and VR headsets do not show video thumbnails. Roblox’s help center says videos can be up to 30 seconds long; that article was last edited in April 2023, and the docs give no length.
Why is my Roblox thumbnail not showing?
New images and videos must pass moderation before other people see them. Search results also changed in March 2026: they now show the first 16:9 thumbnail in your game’s gallery by default, so put your best image first.
Where do I upload a Roblox thumbnail or icon?
In the Creator Dashboard. Open your game, go to Configurations, then Places, and pick a place: thumbnails are under Thumbnails, and the game icon is under Icon on the start place.
Does this checker upload my image?
No. The page reads the file with your browser’s own image tools and shows the results on your screen. The image is not sent to RoCode or anyone else, and the fixed copy is made in your browser too.
