The short answer

As of 18 October 2026, Roblox keeps 30% of each game pass, developer product, private server, Robux subscription and paid access sale, so you receive 70%. Since 14 July 2026, avatar items, classic clothing included, pay the creator 30%, plus 40% to the game owner when they sell inside a game. In-game Robux transfers pay the recipient 90% and the game 10%, with no Roblox fee.

Who gets what

Roblox’s cut on each sale

Five splits cover the most common sales.

  • Sales from your game

Game passes, developer products, private servers, Robux subscriptions and paid access in Robux.

    70%to you

A 100 Robux pass pays you 70. Roblox Plus discounts do not lower it: Roblox pays the difference.

  • Avatar item on the Marketplace

Classic clothing, accessories and other UGC sold in the Marketplace.

    30%to the creator

Priced above its price floor, an item earns more on the Marketplace: up to 70% at 6 times the floor.

  • Avatar item sold in another game

Bought inside a game, through its inspect menu, avatar editor or a purchase prompt.

    30%to the creator

The game that sold it gets 40%, so game owners earn from items they did not make.

  • Avatar item sold in your own game

You made the item and you own the game that sells it.

    70%creator and game owner

You fill both roles, so you get both shares: 30% plus 40%.

  • Donation by Robux transfer

Robux sent to another player through Roblox’s in-game transfer prompt.

    90%to the recipient

Cross-game pass sales ended at the end of May 2026. The recipient cannot cash these Robux out; the game’s 10% can be.

What changed for clothing on 14 July 2026

Classic shirts, pants and t-shirts now pay like every other avatar item.

  • A classic shirt sold on the Marketplace

    Before 14 Jul 202670%

    to the creator

    Since 14 Jul 202630%

to the creator, more when priced above the price floor

  • A classic shirt sold inside a game

    Before 14 Jul 202660% + 10%

    creator, then game owner

    Since 14 Jul 202630% + 40%

    creator, then game owner

Uploading any avatar item costs 80 Robux (500 with an emissive mask), and publishing classic clothing needs a refundable 10 Robux advance. Publishing also needs ID verification or a linked parent account, 2-step verification and a Roblox Plus or Premium subscription. How it works

How the math works

Your share of the price, rounded down to a whole Robux.

  1. 1

    Pick what you sell

Each kind of sale has its own split. See the five splits.

  2. 2

Enter a price or a target

The price a buyer paid, or the Robux you want from each sale.

  3. 3

    Read what reaches you

After Roblox’s share, pending for a few days, then ready for DevEx if it counts as Earned Robux.

The formula

you receive = price × your share, rounded down

game pass: 100 × 70% = 70 Robux

shirt on the Marketplace, base 30%: 50 × 30% = 15 Robux

price = target ÷ your share, rounded up

1,000 ÷ 70% = 1,428.6, so price 1,429

DevEx: 70 × $0.0038 = $0.266, about $0.27

  • By hand

    • Look up the share for what you sell
    • Multiply, then round down to a whole Robux
    • Work backwards to price for a target
  • After a sale

  • With this calculator

    • Five splits, including avatar items and transfers
    • The price to set for the Robux you want
    • What the total is worth at DevEx

FAQ

Robux tax questions

What is the Roblox tax?

It is Roblox’s fee on a sale, not a government tax. On game passes, developer products, private servers, Robux subscriptions and paid access in Robux, Roblox keeps 30% and you get 70%, as of 18 October 2026.

How much does Roblox take from game passes?

30%. You keep 70% of the price, so a 100 Robux pass pays you 70 Robux after about 5 days pending. Roblox Plus discounts do not lower that: Roblox pays the difference.

Is the Roblox tax 30% or 40%?

Both numbers exist. On passes and developer products Roblox keeps 30%. On avatar items sold inside a game, the creator gets 30%, the game owner 40% and Roblox 30%. On the Marketplace, the creator gets 30% and Roblox keeps the other 70%.

How much does Roblox take from shirts and clothing?

Since 14 July 2026, classic shirts, pants and t-shirts follow the same rules as other avatar items: the creator gets 30%, plus 40% for the game owner when it sells in a game, and both shares are yours in your own game. Before that, classic clothing paid 70%. Uploading costs 80 Robux and publishing classic clothing needs a 10 Robux advance.

How much does Roblox take from UGC items?

The creator gets 30% at the base price. On Marketplace sales, an item priced above its price floor earns more, up to 70% at 6 times the floor. In-game sales always pay the creator the base 30%, plus 40% to the game owner.

How much does Roblox take from donations?

Nothing, when the donation is an in-game Robux transfer: the recipient gets 90% and the game gets 10%. Cross-game pass sales, which donation games used before, ended at the end of May 2026. Robux received from transfers cannot be cashed out through DevEx.

How long do pending Robux take?

About 5 days for game passes, developer products and Robux subscriptions, up to 7 days for paid access in Robux, and 30 days for avatar items. Then they move from pending to your balance.

How do I price a game pass to get a set amount?

Divide the amount you want by 0.7 and round up. To receive 1,000 Robux, price the pass at 1,429. The calculator’s What price to set mode does this for every kind of sale.

Does Roblox take a fee on group payouts?

Roblox lists no fee on group payouts. Its share was already taken when the item sold, and paid out Robux keep their DevEx rate.

Does regional pricing change what I get?

It can change what a buyer pays. With managed pricing, which Roblox turns on by default for new games and newly created items, regional prices sit between 30% and 100% of your default price. Enter the price a buyer actually paid to see your share of that sale.
